Each time that we slide into a new year, predictions of how
the next twelve months will pan out tend to pop up at every corner – especially
in business. Experts from every industry under the sun pop their heads
up and give us their two cents, and those in the engineering industry are no
exception. In fact, in a recent article from Structural
Engineer Magazine, editor,
Christina M. Zweig uncovers a few predictions, showing that those of us in this industry will have a lot
to be optimistic about in 2013.
According to this article, “new technology, predicted new
projects and staff hires are all great signs of hope for the industry going
into 2013. According to WANTED
Analytics, the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the
talent marketplace, demand for engineers is growing.” In fact, more than
184,000 listings for job openings in the engineering field could be found
online during the month of September in 2012, growing significantly (and still growing) from the previous year.
So it seems as though engineering firms across the country
can look forward to a steady increase of work during 2013, which is a very
positive thing to hear! Now it’s just about finding qualified and talented
engineers to take on the workload. Stay tuned for our next blog post, as we
will be discussing how to get started in a career in the structural engineering
industry!
